Default Trading the NFP

I'm wondering if anyone has any methods that help in trading the NFP.

When I usually trade the news, I set limit orders above and below the current price, and do pretty well, but during Non Farm Payroll, the whipsaws give me a heartattack.

Does anyone trade the NFP, and if so, ummm, how???

Default Trading the NFP

You guys should be aware that most brokers shift to manual execution during news volatility.

It is pretty obvious that such important news as NFP create a lot of havoc in the market with prices spiking, retracing, re-spiking and so forth...

there is no broker that could possibly guarantee fills under news.

Looking at the 5min chart, you probably must have tried to close your position around 8.38am, 8 minutes after NFP release.

THIS IS PRETTY WEIRD. there is no way the market is still that volatile 8 minutes after news release.

call them up and ask them what went wrong and why did that happen.

Does NFP mean: net financial profit? I just hear about it the first time at this thread.

Trading the NFP is difficult (not the part to catch the move) but to get the trade placed. Brokers are fighting hard against news traders.

I tried to trade NFP, during the first few tries I doubled my funds but I loss my gains in the succeeding trades. I think it is very risky to trade the NFP...

it does not matter if it is the NFP or any kind of important news- trading during high impact events is completely gambling. The reason is that the markets gets too jumpy and changes its direction several times, so you might have predict the right direction but the market already shook you out. Be careful of these kinds of games. Good Luck

Basically, the strategy that you use is appropriate for trading while news. The problem with such significant news such as the NFP is that the spreads might get extremely widen. Then what happens? Both of your orders are auctioned by the broker and your lose is double. Remember that the spreads are always against you…

You got to be VERY selective when it comes to news trading. I love trading on NFP, but I am always very careful. As I know how much the difference it could make if we are not careful with how we approach things. It’s pretty easy and straight forward for me under FreshForex. They got simple and straight forward TOS; it allows me to work in my own way.

What's the average spread you get when trading on NFP? I trade with fixed spread on Hotforex and find it much comfortable than floating spread which can exceed several pips during heavy lack of liquidity

I recommend learning proper risk management before attempting to trade the news, especially the NFP.

Proper risk management is much more complicated than described in this article. I think it the most challenging part of trading because many traders fail to understand the concept of risk, i.e. quantifiable future uncertainty.
