I have been running 5 mt4 platforms on my home computer, on seven different broker demo accounts. I have satellite high-speed internet with bandwidth usage limitations. Before I downloaded the platforms, I was at about 50% of my allowed bandwidth usage, but it has steadily increased until now I'm at 83% and have already received a warning that I'm approaching my threshold, which I knew. My question: Is just having this many platforms running the cause of my increasing bandwidth usage? from what I've read the MT4 platform does not sue that much bandwidth. But at this rate, I'm going to have to do something soon to keep from going over my limit. I would hate to have to take the platforms off. In fact, though, I've already taken four of them off to see if this would help.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions? |

5 platforms for one CPU is to much, specially if you use Expert advisors. Rent VPS and everything will be fine, it is just 20$ per month. If you go for a year it is much less.

I am with BT Broadband and my monthly allowable usage is 10 GB.
For years I never went near my monthly usage allowance but since I started trading every month I am using between 15 and 20 GB and am charged an extra £5 per 5 GB. So an extra £120 a year max which is not a problem. When I move property I will look into alternatives. I am running 8 MT4 platforms comparing brokers and the CPU has no problem at all on this new PC but my 12 year old one was struggling. |

Another thing to do is have multiple accounts on the same platform instead of multiple platforms. Also I noted sometimes log files go crazy and start consuming HD space fast... to check go to c/program files/(then high light a group of mt4 to narrow it down) then then right click/click properties...and you can see how much space is used with that grouping...if its alot then check each one individually until you find the one thats draining your hard disk.....happened to me twice ...each time it was the log file of that particular mt4 instance |

How many sources means charts, indicators are you using in each platform does matter. Using minimum sources may reduce your bandwidth.

For 5 platform you will need to have very very good CPU and graphic card. I think that VPS hosting will not help, you will need to run the platforms on your computer or you will experience a delay, which is deadly in forex.

With the current configuration of computer and a really generous amount of RAm, there is absolutely no problem in running 5 or more.

If I were you , I will use at least 2 computers with 2 screens to ensure the smooth transitions from window to window.

5 is too much for 1 pc, it probably slows down the computer. VPS is the best decision.

If I were you I would use atleast 4 computers, but anyway, why would you have many accounts and most of them as demo? Any way, I'd rather stick to one platform, one computer, some platform from some brokers really take alot of bandwith, I have used mt4 platform from Instaforex, FreshForex, and others, I still can't complain, I only had one platform running at a time!

Instal MT4 more than 2 is no problems, if you have good Video graphic performance in your computer.

Four MT4 platforms shouldn't be a problem for i7 CPU. You don't need an expensive GPU, some video cards are better than others at viewing text on a 2D screen.
the more charts you have open at a time the greater the bandwidth. And yes those log files can take up a lot of hard disk space. If you are scalping or trading news events you may want to only have a single MT4 platform open. |

Installing and running multiple MT4 client terminal instances on the same machine is easier than you might think. These days every MT4 user should learn how to do it. This way you can open two, three, or even more MT4 platforms on the same computer, login into different accounts, and trade all of them at once. You can do this without the need to login-logout from the single MT4 platform. You will have all your accounts online at the same time, meaning you can trade your real and demo accounts simultaneously.
