Default Egwig's Strategy

Following from the discussion on a different, more general thread I have decided to give the Egwig Strategy a thread of its own.

I would value your experiments and comments using the strat.

It is working for me at least as well as many high priced commercial systems.

The latest updated system is here:-

http://www.4shared.com/file/_iz5VNU3...sStrategy.html

Password is Egwig

I have reworked the PDF file to make it much more presentable.

Have fun. ;)

Default Potential LOSER after a BIG bar.

I will repeat this because it is important.

Be VERY wary following a bar that is much longer than the other bars.

They are often followed by a retracement.

It could mean a BIG loss.

Default Traders in other Time Zones

The strategy gives good results for some currency pairs during the London/NewYork trading hours.

Some pairs do well at other times.:)

Hi Egwig,
I was in the signal a couple of hours before this big winner - but using MPTM to move to BE at +30 then a jumping stop of 30 - so was taken out at BE just prior to the big move down, and missed the new signal - ahhh that's forex huh!
I like your system though! Congrats .. will continue to play with it ...
cheers,
Jim

Thanks for the encouragement, Jim.

Much appreciated.

I have been working on the strat for some time now.

It is based on what I find helpful in other strats while trying to filter out what is weak in them.

So far it seems to be working pretty well.;)

Another reasonable day on the UJ. See attached:D

Default Using other time frames

I prefer to use the slower pace of the H1 chart.

The strategy works well, however, on other TFs.

Have a play with the 4H, and use the 4H to check out the trend when placing a trade on the 1H.

Just click the 4H button on the toolbar when using the 1H chart.

It can give a good idea of how things look higher up.

When the signals seem a bit slow in the higher TFs have a look at the 15M. Check out any signals against the 1H and trade the same setup.

The attached image shows a good setup for today on the 15M.

Many other pairs showed a similar trend.

Default Price Labels

Hi Egwig,
Is there anyway to have the Price Labels display as you last chart?

Having price at Buy/Sell Confirmation level and SL would be a great addition - especially for entering Stop/Limit orders.

Cheers,
Jim

Funny you should ask that.:D

This rather splendid feature is already built in to the Egwig indicators.

Not quite in the way you suggest; a little more subtle perhaps.

Simply hover your mouse pointer over the relevant point and the info is displayed magnificently as in the attached.

Have a peeky.;)

I draw your attention to the pdf manual.

It states that when the arrows appear, 'An alert sounds.'

If you are not hearing the alerts check that they are functioning by testing another indicator or EA that you know works.

This is a particularly important part of the strategy.
You don't have to be at the screen permanently.

I spend time anywhere in my house wearing wireless headphones.

I look a bit odd but I hear the alerts wherever I am.:p

Default EURUSD +75

Nice +75 pips on EURUSD
Egwig what are you finding is the best TP target? .. or do you just use the trailing SL?
I have been targeting 1.5 to 2 x initial SL - as this example - makes nice R:R ie. 1:2

Default MTF Clarification

Hi Egwig,
When looking at the MTF Signal Indicator, for a valid entry do you require MACD STR and EMA all to be Green/Red on the H1 and H4? ... cause I seem to be finding any 2 of the 3 still give good entries ...

It is all about individual interpretation.

I have given you a street map. You make your own way home.;)

The Egwig Strategy is not infallible. No system is.

What works today for one pair may need adjustment for another pair or another day.

This is how the strategy has evolved over the years, trial and error - adjust, adjust, adjust.

Find what works for YOU. Play with the settings of the Stoch and MACD on different TimeFrames and market conditions. Set the iTradingTimes indie to your preferred trading hours. It helps you to see when your best successes are.

Save templates of your settings. Give them individual names so that you can recall them later but ensure that the original Egwig template remains intact so that you can 'return to base'.

In this way you can make the Egwig Strategy your own. This would please me.

Oh, and less of the 'Eggy Boy'.:D

Egwig:cool::cool:

ps. Congratulations on your latest 'Century'.;)
(All contributions gratefully accepted.)

Default Respect

Hi Egwig,
Apologies for the Eggie'Ol Boy - meant as a term of respect/friendship - 'tis an Aussie thing to shorten names to convey admiration. Sorry to offend if I did. Just an attempt to keep things light, friendly and enjoyable, but I respect your comments.
Yeah I'm tinkering with setting etc to suit my own style - just thought I'd ask the 'master' ...
Will keep on keeping on ... Thanks again for your generous insights.

Of all the things I have been called over the decades I think that 'Eggy Boy' is probably the least offensive.:)

I have mates all over the globe - (ex RN and ex RNZN - we trained together.)

I find that the lads 'dahn ahnder' in your part of the world amongst the easiest to get along with.

No offence taken me ol' Cobbler.

'Egwig LaFitte' is my forum name - a disguise.:cool:

Note that there is no double 'gg'.

I would be interested to know the meaning of 'Egwig' in Indo, if there is one.

Thanks for taking an interest.

I misunderstood.

I thought you had found the name 'Egwig' in one of the Indo language dialects.

You have found it on a forum.

I was the only Egwig for a long time but now the name is becoming more popular.

I have found a few on other forums but they are not all me.

An EA might be good but I don't think it could assess the many small things that show themselves to the manual trader.
Like the slope on the stoch and MACD lines for instance.
After a while you begin to notice the slight variations of slope that can be very meaningful.

They tell you if the market is going to continue or slow down.
An EA would have to be very sophisticated to do that.

In the early 1980s I actually taught simple BASIC computer programming to under achieving teenagers.
It boosted their confidence and some even went on to achieve greatness.
Since then programming has changed so much that I have not kept up with it.
I can make minor alterations to a script but all my major programming was done by a friend.
I am no longer in touch with that friend so an EA has not been produced.

Perhaps one of the gurus who visit this forum may accept the challenge.

Hello Egwig.
thanx for sharing your system

to be honest,I didn't take it seriously at the beginning

Now I'd like to give it a serious shot

I read again this thread and edited this post,'cause I've seen you play your sys on other pairs as well
but my question now is:

what about % wins on H1??

Hi Swiss
There is no repainting on my indicators so you can judge for yourself.

Just look back over the charts and do a visual.

You can plainly see all successes and failures when the indicators are lined up as in the guide.

The successes so far appear to outnumber the failures.
The failures are usually cut pretty short by the rules- if you follow them strictly.

Perhaps if I gave the system a mind blowing name like Megaton Pip Annihilator, hyped it up as 'The Biggest Breakthrough since the H-bomb', gave you just fifteen minutes before the price rockets to One Billion Dollars, but just $97 for the next few moments, told you there was only 3 copies left before the doors slammed shut forever - you know the scene....

....then would you take it seriously?

Well the truth is it is just a simple system that works pretty well for much of the time when most of the super hyper systems simply DON'T.

Give it a whiz on demo - what do you have to lose?

Good luck
