Default Trading Computers

Hi, I am mostly a novice, and I am doing my best to improve my knowledge about building my own Trading computers as I go ahead. I do not work in the IT field, and I am just taking my first few steps for gathering the right information towards the build I hope to achieve. I would appreciate it if people can give me advice on the latest builds that are out there as of today along with the budget involved in building each module. I would prefer to have a build that is fast, and that can run fast enough to keep up with the changes in the stock market.

Pretty much any mid-range system you pick up at Best Buy could run most of the trading platforms out there. A few things I'd be aware of:

Do NOT use Vista. Use Windows 7.
Get a decent quad-core processor.
Have at least 4GB of RAM.

The processor and the ram will allow for maximum multi-tasking. You can get a lower-range graphics card as well to help graphical performance, but it's really not required unless you plan on gaming.

Hello Thosmas,

My major is IT so I think my advice for you would be useful. Trading platform is a light program, I mean you don't need an expensive computer to run the trading platform as MT4.

I think a PC or laptop > $500 is enough to trade. And take the rest for studying how to get profit, it's better. :)

Yes, having a internet connection is good, but the connection of the connection should be effective, sometimes the speed fluctuates and it become difficult to trade in such situations.
